Remember when Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not came out? Every single person had that album, it was one of those phenomenons of music that get's the whole world to stop and say people have got to step up to match this now. They cemented their selves at the very forefront of the British music scene and have stayed on that mantel ever since. Sure, their efforts after that album haven't hit quite as hard, but how could they? It was something totally different to everyone else at the time and brought with it a flurry of copycats never achieving something as magnificent as that album.
As you will know the band are soon to release their fifth studio album "AM" on September 9th with hype surrounding the album as big as it has been for all their other releases and a collection of positive reviews it's easy to see this album will make a splash. This track Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You is actually not from the album, a standalone track that may be added on to a deluxe version of the album at this moment in time we've got nothing but the track here.
From listening to it you can see clearly that the band have come along an insane amount since their debut, with a classic Arctic Monkey's sound the band are still the same boys just sounding far tighter as a unit. There's the usual lovey doevy theme going on, Alex Turner has always been a hopeless romantic when song writing, one distinct difference now is the lack of identification with the common man, they've come to far to be able to write from the perspective of the average guy on the street, they're now something so much bigger than that and it's hard to fault them when they've worked hard for it.
I don't know if it's just the sheer duration of time that has passed since I've listened to them but I enjoyed this track a lot more than I thought I would have, it's such a sweet and well produced piece of music which has made me actually want to hear the new album, while I know already it won't surpass the early days if this is anything to go by it's going to be an amazing piece of work.
